Broomsedge isn't a weed problem—it's a soil problem. When your calcium drops and pH falls, broomsedge takes over. Fix the soil with liquid calcium and the broomsedge disappears on its own. No herbicide. No lime truck. No reseeding.
Broomsedge (broom sage) isn't beating you because it's tough. It's beating you because your soil stopped being hospitable to good grass.
Broomsedge thrives in acidic soils where calcium has leached out. If you see broomsedge, your pH is almost certainly below 6.0 and your calcium base saturation is starved.
Bermuda, fescue, and clover need calcium to build cell walls and unlock N-P-K. When calcium drops, your forage gets weak and broomsedge fills the gap.
Herbicides don't fix soil chemistry—broomsedge comes back every year. Liquid calcium corrects the root cause in one pass and lasts 2–4 years.
A 2-minute walkthrough of why broomsedge takes over, how liquid calcium resets the soil, and what growers see in the field.

Same pasture. Same landowner. Same year. The only thing that changed is a single pass of Pro-Cal® liquid calcium. The broomsedge that dominated the field is knocked way back and grass has reclaimed the pasture.
Results can vary by soil type, application rate, and weather — but the pattern is consistent across the thousands of growers who've treated with Pro-Cal.
Most growers reach for ag-lime out of habit. Modern university research shows that rock-lime breaks down too slowly to meaningfully shift pH in a single season—often failing to meet the soil's calcium requirements at all.
AgriTec's liquid calcium products are purified and bio-activated so the calcium goes to work immediately. You spray it on. It moves into the root zone. The broomsedge loses its competitive advantage and your forage takes over.
Low pH causes fertilizer loss, stunted growth, and nutrient lockout. Correct it first, fertilize second.
Liquid calcium begins raising pH within weeks. Lime can take 6–18 months to fully break down.
One application. Multiple growing seasons. Fewer trips across the field, lower cost per year.
Spray it with the equipment you already own. No scheduling headaches, no compacted pastures.

Broomsedge didn't show up in a vacuum. When calcium leaves, micronutrients leave with it, microbial activity collapses, and soil biology shuts down. Advanced-Cal puts it all back in a single spray.
Chelation wraps the calcium so the plant absorbs it faster than ag-lime or basic liquid cal. Quicker pH shift, quicker broomsedge die-back, quicker forage recovery.
Boron, manganese, iron, sulfur, and trace minerals — the nutrients your soil test probably flagged as "low" or "marginal." Included in every gallon, no separate pass needed.
A proprietary blend of beneficial soil microbes that re-seeds your soil biology. Microbes cycle nutrients, unlock P and K, and form symbiotic relationships with grass roots — the engine of long-term pasture health.
Plant-available carbon feeds the microbes you just added and fuels photosynthesis. Enzymes break stalled nutrients loose from the soil matrix so your fertilizer finally gets into the grass instead of leaching away.
Advanced-Cal costs about $1.82 more per gallon than Pro-Cal at tote pricing — that's the price of adding micronutrients, microbes, enzymes, and chelated carbon energy to the same calcium pass you were going to make anyway.
Both choke out broomsedge. Advanced-Cal rebuilds the whole soil system while doing it.
Chelated liquid calcium + micronutrient pack + live microbial blend + enzymes + carbon energy source. One pass. Full soil makeover.
Bio-activated liquid calcium. Handles pH and calcium base saturation alone — no added micronutrients or microbes.
Quotes from customers who applied Pro-Cal or Advanced-Cal on their hay & pasture.
I bought this farm last year and it was over-taken by broom sedge and thistle. I applied Advanced-Cal, NitroMaxx+, and Bio-Act with no herbicide. My sedge is gone and almost all my weeds are gone. A week and a half after NitroMaxx went on, the grass went from 4 to 13 inches and didn't stop.
We put Advanced-Cal on our hay field last year and it got rid of all our broomsage. We saw a great increase in yield and it made the grass real thick. One of the best things we have used for weed control.
I applied 4 gallons per acre of Advanced-Cal and all the broomsage in my pasture is gone. That stuff really works. I also increased my hay.
I used Advanced-Cal on my pastures that were overgrown with weeds and two weeks later all the weeds were gone. All I can say is WOW.
I applied Pro-Cal last year and it took care of all my broom sedge. I also put NitroMaxx Plus on half my fields and beat out the urea side on bale count.
I was skeptical. My neighbors said I was wasting my money buying a drum of Pro-Cal. I put it on a field covered in weeds. When I went to spray herbicide on my other fields, I came back and there weren't any weeds. Send me two totes to do all 200 acres.
I bought 75 gallons of Pro-Cal and had great results. One field was thick with broom sage — that's now a thing of the past. I've been telling everyone how great my results were.
I've had this place for over 20 years. Wasted so much money on fertilizer and my fields never looked this good. I put Pro-Cal on two years ago and it cleaned up my weeds. I produce more hay than ever.
We got about 20% more hay in each field we used Pro-Cal on. No broom straw in the spring cutting, which was very good.
Balances soil pH within weeks, not months.
Makes N-P-K actually move into the plant.
Aerates soil and improves water penetration.
Strengthens cell walls & root development.
Spray it with the gear you already own.
Food-grade. Graze right after application.
Lower per-acre cost with better results.
One pass. Multiple growing seasons.
Every order. Every size. Delivered right to your farm at no extra cost.
Most growers see noticeable reduction within one growing season. Heavily infested fields often need a full season for broomsedge to die back completely as your desirable forage fills the gap. You're treating the cause (low pH / low calcium), not burning the top of the plant, so it's a sustainable reset rather than a one-time knockdown.
Most of our customers don't. Once the soil chemistry is corrected, good grass outcompetes broomsedge on its own. You can pair with a selective herbicide for a fast cosmetic clean-up, but the pasture won't need it long-term.
Depends on your soil. Our calculator uses your pH, CEC, and current Ca Base Saturation to recommend a rate. Standard first-pass applications land in the 3–6 gal/acre range; maintenance passes drop to 1–2 gal/acre.
Pro-Cal is the right call if calcium and pH are your only soil issues. Advanced-Cal is worth the upgrade when you also want to add micronutrients, microbial activity, enzymes, and carbon energy in the same pass. Heavily depleted pastures almost always benefit from Advanced-Cal.
No. Both products are livestock safe and food-grade. You don't have to pull animals off the field.
Any standard sprayer will work—boom sprayer, pull-behind, ATV unit, boomless. No special equipment needed. Mix with water per label instructions and drive.
